MEMENTO Moon

For this motif, the porcelain globe with the ashes of the deceased consists of a round, arched disc, which rests in the brilliantly bright Luna the moon. This disc is created with natural jasper and garnet pigment in a warm red colour and with a fine gold-leaf plating. It symbolises one of the brightest objects of our night sky, a star that is part of our galaxy and is called Regulus, the Latin word for Little King. Regulus is generally associated with the heart and also with fire. In the brightness of the moon, the warmth and the fire of the distant, timeless star in the sky, with which the deceased is unified in our minds, have come to rest – one of the many individual layers of meaning of this remembrance sculpture.
