MEMENTO Angel

A light, shining angel – messenger from another world – carries the porcelain globe with the ashes of the deceased; with this figurine, the globe comes in the shape of a ball. This ball is painted with valuable lapis lazuli and malachite pigments in ultramarine blue on light green and plated with gold leaf. The colour of the ball symbolises the water, its shape our planet earth, the gold leaf the pre-historic, unified continent, Pangea. The angel announces the re-entry of the deceased into the primeval earth, his or her last and eternal place of rest – this could be one of the many layers of meaning of this remembrance sculpture.
